Can food and drinks be brought to concerts?

In Congress they presented a bill to allow the entry of food and drinks for personal consumption at mass events such as stadiums and concerts.

The Podemos Peru proposal states that it includes sports, cultural, academic, musical, theatrical activities or other recreational spaces whose capacity is equal to or greater than 100 people.

“Attendees can enter with food and/or drinks for personal consumption, such as snacks, confectionery, expanded products, water, carbonated drinks or soft drinks, as well as other products with the same or similar characteristics to those offered at the event,” the initiative reads.

In all cases, free entry of sealed water bottles in transparent containers and of suitable material for personal consumption during the event would be allowed.

What would be prohibited is the entry of alcoholic beverages. In addition, it is established that restaurants, bars, cafes, operas, ballet, and publicly owned cultural spaces protected by heritage conservation regulations are excluded from the scope of the proposal.

In addition, it is highlighted that they are products for personal consumption that are the same or have similar characteristics to those marketed within the event, in reasonable quantities and presentations and that do not generate risk to health, safety or the integrity of the facilities.

Likewise, it is indicated that the organizer must disseminate in a clear, truthful and accessible manner, three business days before the event, the reference list of food and beverage products that will be marketed.
