Ambassadors of Cuba and Lebanon deliver Letters of Credence to President Nicolás Maduro

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received at the Miraflores Palace the Credential Letters of the designated ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in the country, Jorge Luis Mayo Fernández, and the ambassador of the Lebanese Republic, Nisrine Boukaram.

The ceremony reaffirms Venezuela’s diplomatic ties with Cuba and Lebanon. In the case of the island, the strategic alliance and bilateral cooperation consolidated by commanders Hugo Chávez Frías and Fidel Castro are ratified. The relationship is based on shared ideals of social justice, regional integration and defense of sovereignty, with emphasis on areas such as health, education, sports and energy.

Jorge Luis Mayo Fernández has a diplomatic career that includes functions as minister counselor and second head of Mission in Venezuela between 2010 and 2016. Subsequently, he assumed responsibilities in the Cuban Foreign Ministry as director of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, and then as ambassador in Nicaragua. From 2023 until his recent appointment, he served as Second Mission in Caracas.

Ambassadors of Cuba and Lebanon deliver Letters of Credence to President Nicolás MaduroFor her part, the Lebanese ambassador Nisrine Boukaram has a degree in Political Science, with postgraduate studies in Human Rights and International Affairs. He has represented his country in Kuwait, Qatar and Pakistan, and has worked as a university professor in Beirut.

Relations between Venezuela and Lebanon date back to 1946 and are strengthened through diplomatic dialogue, cultural cooperation and recognition of the Lebanese community in the country, made up of more than 450 thousand citizens.

In this way, both governments maintain an active agenda of collaboration and mutual respect with Venezuela, strengthened by diplomatic, historical and cultural ties that promote bilateral understanding and cooperation.
