A group of vandals followers of the University of Chile They stoned the bus this Thursday Lanus on his way to the National Stadium in Santiago to play the first leg of the semifinal of the South American Cupin a new incident between Chileans and Argentines.

The attack on the Argentine bus occurred just two hours before the start of the match, in the surroundings of the sports venue, in the Ñuñoa neighborhood, which was with little protection because the match was played without an audience due to the sanction carried by the local team for the violent incidents of its fans in the second leg of the round of 16 against Independiente de Avellaneda in Argentina on August 20.

The news of the disorders was spread by the Argentine team’s footballer Eduardo ‘Toto’ Salvio, who uploaded images to social networks with the phrase “this is how the local fans receive us. We don’t change more, we don’t improve more. Regrettable!” On Thursday morning, the Argentine government announced a series of sanctions against nearly a hundred U fans for the pitched battle in the Avellaneda stands, which led to the suspension of the match and the classification of “La U” as Conmebol considered that the lack of security at the venue was to blame.

“That the actions carried out by said sympathizers generated a climate of violence between both parties, motivating local sympathizers to begin to mobilize from their location towards the “Sur Alta” tribune sector, in order to confront the aggressors, which led to a confrontation between both factions, which culminated in several sympathizers of the University of Chile being injured,” states the document from the Ministry of the Interior.

According to the official version, the incidents occurred when the two bars clashed over some banners. Apparently the local fans tried to remove them and the visiting fans responded by throwing seats, urinals, and other blunt objects at the rivals below, and set part of the stands on fire. Once the visiting stands were cleared, a group of Independiente fans managed to break the security cordons and attack the violent straggling visitors, one of whom was pushed into the void and suffered serious injuries.
