University teaching will continue virtual due to the effects of Tropical Storm Melissa

MESCyT abre convocatoria para 8,000 becas nacionales

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) clarified tonight that teaching in the university educational community will continue virtually this Friday, and will continue to be suspended in person.

In a brief statement, Minister Franklin García Fermín stated that they adopted the decision to guarantee the continuity of learning and compliance with academic calendars.

He recalled that given the current weather situation caused by the effects of Tropical Storm Melissa, the Special Operations Center (COE), in consultation with the MESCYT and the Ministry of Education (MINERD), made the decision to suspend in-person teaching at all educational levels in the national territory.

“We appreciate your understanding and collaboration at this time. We are committed to the education and safety of everyone,” he said.
