A young woman tells how a helmet impregnated with a supposed chemical substance almost cost her her life.
News Bogota.
Last Friday, October 17, around 11:30 pm, a young woman requested a motorcycle service through an application in the T zone of Bogotá. When he got on the motorcycle, the driver handed him a helmet that, according to the victim, gave off a strong chemical odor, similar to alcohol. Thinking that the helmet was wet, the young woman used it during the journey.
Symptoms and reaction
A few minutes into the trip, the young woman began to feel dizzy and experienced tingling in her hands. Alarmed by these symptoms, she asked the driver to stop.
When the motorcycle braked, the young woman threw herself to the ground and ran to a nearby couple for help.
The couple took her to a medical center, where specialists confirmed signs of poisoning.
Although tests did not detect traces of common drugs, doctors indicated that he may have inhaled an unidentified substance.
The young woman was discharged after several hours of observation, but still has a headache and drowsiness.
Determined to alert other users, the young woman shared her experience on social networks, raising concern about this new type of theft.
The Bogotá Metropolitan Police indicated that this is the first case reported with these characteristics, although versions of other similar events that have not yet been officially confirmed are circulating on social networks.
The authorities recommend that users be attentive to any strange smell in the helmets and, if in doubt, reject their use to avoid possible poisoning.
In addition, it is advisable to check the driver’s qualification before accepting the service and, if anything suspicious, cancel the trip immediately.
