This afternoon, the ministerial cabinet headed by Prime Minister Ernesto Álvarez addresses Congress to obtain the long-awaited vote of confidence. President José Jerí’s team faces a major problem inherited from the Dina Boluarte herd.
There is no official statement from any party, however, parliamentarians from different political parties have spoken out regarding the positions they would take.
Norma Yarrow pointed out for Perú21TV that Renovación Popular would be inclined to grant a “possibility” of a vote of confidence to the ministerial cabinet led by Premier Álvarez, arguing the need to pacify the country and focus on citizen security.
For her part, Congresswoman Lady Camones told this newspaper that on the part of Alianza Para el Progreso “there is still no agreement,” but that in her personal capacity she considered that the vote of confidence should be granted and in this way “move forward with the management in all sectors.”
Without elaborating much, legislator Guido Bellido, from Podemos Peru, did not confirm whether they would vote in favor or against. Bellido reported that they are still seeing what decision they will make and did not give more details.
Those who have also not reached a consensus are the congressmen from the Peru Libre bench. This was confirmed by his spokesperson Flavio Cruz, who, however, estimated that the Executive would obtain the necessary votes in Congress.
Sources from Fuerza Popular indicated to Perú21 that the bench would also vote in favor and that the cabinet would obtain the trust by “scratching.”
