The president of People First Movement, Antony Marsaffirmed that measurements carried out refer him among the possible candidates of preference among the electorate for the presidential elections of 2024.
He too senator by Santiago Rodríguez, recalled that the party he heads, barely nine years old, has been gaining space in the electorate, achieving representation at the congressional and municipal levels.
“In the 2016 elections, this party obtained 17 aldermen, three trustees and a deputy. In the 2020 elections we obtained 21 aldermen, six trustees, a senator and a deputy. We are doing well,” he said.
Marte spoke in those terms when leading a swearing-in ceremony, where dozens of drivers became part of the Movement People first.
Antonio Marte is a land transport businessman and union leader, known for being the president of the National Confederation of Transport Organizations (CONATRA); which brings together more than 42 Federations with 1,776 unions and urban, intercity, taxi and tourist transport companies, where more than 152,000 members are affiliated.
Marte Familia has participated as a manager in international organizations such as the International Labor Organization (ILO). He has also attended national and international transportation congresses and seminars, which has taken him to countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, Guatemala, the United States and Brazil.
As a businessman, he is the president of Grupo Sidra, with more than 45 years of experience in the automotive transport sector. This business group is made up of Tasa Bus, Aetra Bus, Comercial La Sidra, Inmobiliaria La Sidra, Sub Technologies.
Marte Familia also ventures into the hotel and tourism industry as the owner of the Rancho Guacamayo ecotourism hotel, located in Bonao, Monseñor Nouel province.
In the area of finance, he is president of the Board of Directors of the National Savings, Credit and Multiple Services Cooperative of Entrepreneurs, Drivers and Transport Workers (COOPNAEMTRA).
As a politician, Marte is president of the movement Primero La Gente (MPG); political organization with a national presence, formed according to the social democratic ideology, basically promoted by the late mass leader José Francisco Peña Gómez.
Antonio Marte was elected Senator of the Republic for the period 2020-2024, representing the province of Santiago Rodríguez.
In his interventions in the Chamber, and in the commissions of which he is a member. Marte Familia has proven to be a faithful defender of the Environment and Natural Resources, as well as entrepreneurs, medium, small and micro-entrepreneurs, without detriment to other segments of Dominican society.
