Parishioner marches to honor the first two Venezuelan saints

This Wednesday, October 22, the people of Venezuela march in the streets of the city of Caracas in joy for the first two Venezuelan saints, San José Gregorio Hernández and Santa Carmen Rendiles.

The mobilization has the main starting point from Plaza Venezuela, specifically in the Plaza Monumento de la Resistencia Indígena, with three other starting points: Avenida Libertador, CANTV, Red Cross Footbridge on Andrés Bello Avenue to Plaza de la Candelaria.

After the Latin formula of the canonization read by the Pope, loud applause was heard in St. Peter’s Square. «Faith, compared to great material and cultural, scientific and artistic goods, stands out; not because these goods are despicable, but because without faith they lose their meaning,” the Pope said during his homily. “Today there are seven witnesses before us, the new saints, who with the grace of God have kept the lamp of faith lit, moreover, they have themselves been lamps capable of spreading the light of Christ,” he added.
