COFE stated that there are 79 officials affected by the salary debt of MIDES, which harms their day-to-day life since they subsist based on the salary of their work.
“The delay in payments, mainly to contracts for article 92 (2 + 2) and one-person contracts, has been systematic from 2020 to date, and hundreds of workers have been affected,” denounced COFE.
They assure that several of these workers did not receive their salaries for six consecutive months.
The Union of Workers of the Ministry of Social Development (UTMIDES) has assumed, in the first place, the path of negotiation: “the issue of delay in payments, and the renewal of contracts, which has been dealt with in 18 bipartite meetings during the 2020, 2021 and so far in 2022, including two instances of collective bargaining in the National Labor Directorate (DINATRA)”, detailed the confederation.
Last January, a bipartite meeting was held with UTMIDES in which the authorities stated that the payments would be made on time and in full. “The fact that this has not happened, once again, shows that the administration did not prioritize the issue despite what has happened in the last two years.”
For COFE, “better management must begin with the regularization of contracts that today are very diverse, since there are sensitive areas with officials who have contracts with sources of external indebtedness such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, among others. , causing differences in working conditions, harming labor rights, since they are public officials in a covert dependency relationship.”
From the Confederation they highlighted the damage caused to the management of the State and the execution of public policies “the precarious links and the adjustment policy generated by the dismantling of State services.”
Concentration and unemployment
For this reason, on Monday, March 14, UTMIDES calls for a national strike from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
They will also hold a rally in front of the Ministry’s headquarters, which will aim to “demand the immediate payment of wages and the administration’s commitment that this situation will not happen again.”
The Board of Directors of COFE will accompany the mobilization of UTMIDES.
