A fire breaks out in the shed of the Inocentes and Belford Roxo samba school, from the Rio de Janeiro Samba Schools Access Group. The Fire Department was called at 3:49 pm to fight a fire in a property located in the Santo Cristo neighborhood, Rio’s port area, where the shed for making floats and costumes for the 2026 carnival is located.
More than 40 soldiers from six units are working to put out the fire, using 13 firefighting vehicles. So far, there are no records of victims.
There are also barracks for the samba schools Em Cima da Hora, Vigário Geral and Unidos do Jacarezinho. Firefighters are working to ensure that the fire does not spread to the samba school barracks, which are located next door.
Schools work with easily combustible products, such as styrofoam, paint, glue, among others.
