He Ministry of Labor arranged through the Resolution 10-2025 the suspension of work from 1:00 in the afternoon of this Wednesday, October 22 until the conclusion of Thursday the 23rd, as a preventive measure against the effects of tropical storm Melissa.
The measure applies only to the provinces under red alert and work will resume on Friday, October 24.
The provision is part of the actions adopted by the National Prevention CouncilMitigation and Response, headed by the president Luis Abinaderafter placing in red alert to the National District and the provinces of Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, San José de Ocoa, Azua, San Juan, Barahona and Pedernales.
The Ministry clarified that work is only partially suspended and that they will be able to operate with minimal staff the establishments that provide essential servicesamong them:
- Supermarkets and filled.
- Clinics and private hospitals.
- fuel stations.
- Electrical transmission and distribution companies.
- Companies of telecommunications.
- Companies of continuous operation (as industrial plants or energy).
- Private security and surveillance companies.
- Pharmacies.
In all cases, personnel must be limited to what is strictly necessary to maintain the attention to the population.
Labor rights
The resolution establishes that these measures will not affect the wagesrights or benefits of the workers. The Ministry recalled that the temporary suspension of work is carried out by virtue of the powers granted to it by the Labor Codewith the objective of preserving the safety of employees and employers during the emergency.
