Granddaughter denounces falsification of power of attorney in Artemisa to deprive her 92-year-old grandfather

Cuba, vivienda, corrupción

Cuban Yenisey González claims that her grandfather, with severe visual and hearing limitations, was the victim of a maneuver that allowed control of his home to be transferred.

MADRID, Spain.- Cuban Yenisey González denounced publicly a case of falsification of notarial documents in Bauta, Artemisa, involving his 92-year-old grandfather, who – according to him – was deprived of his only home through a power of attorney issued without his consent or that of his family members.

“Scandalous Power of Attorney in Bauta, Artemisa, date of this complaint: October 20, 2025: Protection or Ingenious Plot?” Yenisey wrote on his Facebook profile, accompanying his publication with a video where the old man himself rejects the legality of the document.

“My grandfather, a 92-year-old man who can barely see and hear, was the victim of an act that borders on the absurd and cruel,” said the young woman. He reports that a power of attorney was issued “that seems more like a fairy tale than a legal document” in which it is established that the old man voluntarily went to the notary to grant a power of attorney with 15 sections.

Yenisey maintains that her grandfather never granted such authorization: “Today it is known that my grandfather never gave consent for such a power of attorney, nor did he mediate in the preparation of it by a notary or any notary. It is known that there is a complaint with a number, registered and recognized by the corresponding institutions: related to the crime of “falsification of public documents””.

In the complaint, he also questions the role of the notary: “The notary, instead of protecting this vulnerable man (…) proceeds to revoke a previous power of attorney that he had granted to me (his granddaughter) and co-owner of his only home, but this revocation is not registered in the system, so that the act remains hidden, overlapping.”

The young woman assures that at the time of the supposed issuance of the power, all her relatives were outside of Cuba. “Where was the social protection that it was supposed to offer? Did the notary not realize that he was facilitating the dispossession of my grandfather’s only remaining house?” he questioned.

In the video shared with the complaint, the old man expressed: “Do you believe that after I have lost a daughter and having lost my wife when she COVIDthat I was left alone here with my granddaughter and great-granddaughter, they taking care of me and I taking care of them, am I going to make a power of attorney as rude as this (with the document in my hand) to give my house to someone? No one can think of that in life. “It would be the lowest thing a person would do, take the house away from their granddaughter and great-granddaughter.”

The man, visibly upset, added: “That’s why I want justice to be done. That this problem not be given any more thought, since it has been going on for a few months and nothing has been solved.”

According to Yenisey, the new agent would have gone through “notary office, physical planning, law firm, housing department” and “most likely ended up selling the house.”

The publication has provoked dozens of reactions on social networks. “What a lack of respect and consideration for this grandfather, where is the respect for those years of life and sacrifice… let justice be done,” wrote Yenny Hidalgo Velázquez. Other users, like Orlando Falcon, pointed directly to alleged acts of corruption: “Corruption in the municipal housing department, that is square to sell it for money. Old man, go to the provincial prosecutor’s office, they are trying to rob you.”

“They are all corrupt in the housing system,” said Sonia Tejeda. Idailsa Pérez Piñón demanded “Justice, justice, and jail for those responsible for this scam.”

The family assures that they will continue to report the case until the responsibility of those who participated in the notarial operation is determined and the rights to the home are restored.
