Strategic partnership with Russia strengthens Venezuela in the international arena

Strategic partnership with Russia strengthens Venezuela in the international arena

The agreement has broad provisions to deepen cooperation in areas such as energy, mining, transportation, security, among others.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, highlighted this Wednesday the ratification of the strategic alliance with Russia, which represents a step in strengthening Venezuela’s position in the new international scenario.

“It is a step that strengthens Venezuela’s position in the new international scenario, as a strategic ally of Russia, demanding a more just world order, without external interference, and promoting sovereign cooperation between States,” he asserted.

Gil recalled that on May 7 in Moscow, “Presidents Nicolás Maduro and Vladimir Putin signed a Treaty of Strategic Partnership and Cooperation between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Russian Federation.”

In a message published on his Telegram channel, he detailed that the National Assembly later approved the aforementioned agreement, reaffirming “our sovereign will.”

Furthermore, on the eve, the members of the Russian State Duma (Lower House of Parliament) ratified the Treaty of Strategic Partnership and Cooperation “after its submission by President Putin, and then the Federation Council (Russian Senate) approved its ratification,” Gil highlighted.

The chancellor specified that this agreement between Caracas and Moscow contains broad provisions that allow for deepening cooperation in areas such as energy, mining, transportation, communications, security, and the fight against terrorism, among others.

This agreement exceeds the commitments previously signed, confirming the relevance of the current situation in relations between both nations.
