Maduro receives credentials from new ambassadors in the country

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, leads this Tuesday at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas the solemn act of receiving credentials, reaffirming the agenda of the Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy.

In the Sol del Perú Hall, the president received Mr. Jorge Luis Mayo Fernández, ambassador designated by the Republic of Cuba, making official the beginning of his duties and strengthening bilateral ties.

Mayo Fernández, who has a degree in International Political Relations and is fluent in the English language, was officially appointed according to the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba No. 74 Ordinary of 2025. He has vast diplomatic experience in the region, having served as ambassador to the Republic of Nicaragua (2021 to 2023) and, previously, as minister counselor and second head of Mission in the Cuban Embassy in Venezuela (2010 to 2016).

This diplomatic act not only reconfirms the strategic alliance and historic brotherhood between Caracas and Havana, but also honors the solid roots of cooperation and solidarity forged by the Eternal Commanders, Hugo Chávez Frías and Fidel Castro Ruz.

Likewise, President Maduro received Mrs. Nisrine Boukaram, ambassador designated by the Lebanese Republic. With this ceremony, which was attended by Foreign Minister Yván Gil and the executive secretary of ALBA-TCP, Rander Peña, the diplomat made her mission in the country official.

Lebanese ambassador Nisrine Boukaram has a degree in Political Science, with postgraduate studies in Human Rights and International Affairs. He has represented his country in Kuwait, Qatar and Pakistan, and has worked as a university professor in Beirut.

Relations between Venezuela and Lebanon date back to 1946 and are strengthened through diplomatic dialogue, cultural cooperation and recognition of the Lebanese community in the country, made up of more than 450 thousand citizens.

The meeting highlights Venezuela’s priority of strengthening ties of cooperation, respect and brotherhood with the world, within the framework of its peace-oriented foreign policy.
