The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) announced the suspension of their teaching and administrative duties for this Wednesday as a preventive measure in the face of the imminent passage of the Tropical Storm Melissa throughout the national territory.
In one circular issued by the Rectory On Tuesday night, the institution reported that, following the recommendations of the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the National Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) the following was established:
Total suspension of teaching tasks in the Headquarterscampuses, centers, subcenters and university extensions throughout the day Wednesday October 22 of 2025 and the suspension of the administrative tasks starting at 1:00 pm on the same day.
The university urged its authorities to take the necessary measures to safeguard institutional assets and calls on the university community to stay attentive to the official bulletins of the COE and Indomet, as well as the information disclosed through the official channels of the UASD.
Provinces in red alert
On Tuesday night, the Government ordered the suspension of the teaching for this Wednesday and Thursday in the provinces that are placed in red alert due to the rains caused by the Tropical Storm Melissa. Also, that the work in the public and private sectors be until 1:00 in the afternoon this Wednesday.
In red alert were placed on National DistrictSanto Domingo, Peravia, San Cristóbal, Azua, Barahona, Pedernales, San José de Ocoa and Saint John.
