A girl of just 11 years old managed to put an end to years of abuse. His testimony allowed justice to confirm the life sentence for José Antonio Pacheco Rojas, his stepfather, who remains a fugitive after being found responsible for the crime committed in the province of Concepción, Junín region.

The ruling was ratified by the First Criminal Appeals Chamber of Junín, after the defendant’s defense tried to reverse the sentence handed down in April of this year. The judges concluded that the evidence presented by the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for Family Violence of Concepción was compelling.
The minor had reported that the events had occurred since she was seven years old, but she was only able to speak with a close relative after suffering a new attack in 2023. It was then that the complaint was filed that led to the tax investigation.

The senior deputy prosecutor Carlos Jorge Campuzano Carbajal supported the accusation and managed to confirm the maximum sentence. Meanwhile, the minor’s mother faces questions for having doubted her daughter’s version.
The Public Ministry authorities recalled that these types of cases must be reported immediately and reaffirmed their commitment to defending the rights of girls, boys and adolescents who are victims of violence.
