No flour? Three healthy and gluten-free alternatives

No flour? Three healthy and gluten-free alternatives

When an ingredient as basic as wheat flour becomes scarce, it’s time to get creative in the kitchen. That is why today we share these three recipe ideas in which you can substitute wheat flour perfectly for an even more nutritious and affordable ingredient: oatmeal.

OAT AND CINNAMON COOKIES

Ingredients

  • 120 grams of oat flakes
  • 40 grams of oatmeal
  • 40 grams of brown sugar
  • Egg
  • 60 milliliters of sunflower oil
  • One teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a pinch of salt

Preparation

To prepare the oatmeal, simply grind the same flakes in a blender or processor. Then, mix all the ingredients in a bowl until they form a consistent dough. You can use brown sugar or panela.

Grease a baking tray with butter or cover it with parchment paper. Form small balls with your hands, place them on the tray and flatten slightly. If you want your cookies to be crispy, the cookies should be thin.

Preheat the oven to 200ºC. Bake the cookies for about 10 minutes, they will be ready when the edges are golden brown.

When they are ready, remove and let cool. Store in an airtight container to keep crisp for at least three days. After this time, they can get soft.

OAT BREAD

Ingredients

  • 6 cups instant oatmeal
  • ½ Cup of mix of seeds to taste (sunflower, sesame, etc.)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 envelope of dry yeast (7 grams approx.)
  • 2 tablespoons of salt
  • 750 ml of warm water

Preparation

The first thing will be to process the 2 cups of oatmeal, until it is like flour. Take a bowl and place all the dry ingredients in it. Then add the yeast and mix to integrate. Form a volcano to add the eggs and also add the water little by little, mix. Once the dough looks homogeneous, let it rest for 10 minutes.

With the oven preheated, prepare the mold with a little fat, we advise you to use a pudding-type mold so that the bread has that characteristic shape. Bake at 180°C for approximately 45 minutes, to confirm that it is ready, insert a knife, it should come out dry. Now yes, we can enjoy our healthy bread.
