Santo Domingo. – He Emergency Operations Center (EOC) increased this Tuesday to 13 provinces and the National District in yellow alertwhile maintaining nine in greenfaced with the effects of a active tropical wave associated with a low pressure center that moves on the Caribbean Seasouth of the Dominican territory.
The COE reported that the system could generate heavy downpours, thunderstorms, gusts of wind and dangerous waves, so it urged the population to remain attentive to weather bulletins and adopt preventive measures.
The provinces in yellow alert are: La Vega, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, National District, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, San José de Ocoa, Peravia, La Altagracia, Monseñor Nouel, San Juan, Perdernales, Azua and Barahona.
In green alert the provinces are found Sánchez Ramírez, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monte Plata, Samaná, Santiago, El Seibo, Independencia, Hato Mayor and Bahorucowhere significant rains could also be recorded.

The COE recommends that citizens refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines that present high volumes of water, in order to avoid tragedies due to sudden floods.
In addition, operators of fragile, small and medium vessels they must stay in port both in the Atlantic Coast as in the Caribbeandue to the Strong winds, dangerous surf and thunderstorms that accompany the atmospheric phenomenon.

Likewise, the organization instructed the civil protection teams on the Atlantic Coast to take all necessary preventive measuresgiven the possible presence of breakers and rip currents that could put the lives of bathers and fishermen at risk.
The COE reiterated its call for prudence and constant vigilanceremembering that the rains could cause urban flooding, flash floods and landslides in the provinces under alert.
