John Hubieres, president of the National Federation of Carriers La Nueva Option (Fenatrano), affirmed that the solution to transportation in the Dominican Republic is “fill the country with concho carts”.
“Transport must be massified in the country. This is one of the few countries with concho carts… The solution for that is to massify it. We have to fill the country,” Hubieres mentioned during an interview with the program “Esto no es radio.”
He assured that it is vital that “wherever there is 20 or 30 carts and 10 to 20 buses available to the people».
He stated that in the country there is a custom of “demonize like Putin” to public carts and that the State must take responsibility for lightening the plugs that affect the routes in the Capital.

He criticized the Minister of the Presidency Lisandro Macarrulla, who asserted that the State cannot subsidize the “inefficiency” and “mismanagement” that the Metropolitan Office of Bus Services (OMSA) has traditionally had.
Lisandro Macarrulla explained that these subsidies mean that the State you must pay between RD$130 and RD$140 for each passenger, which he classified as an “exaggeration” and “non-rational” management of State resources.
Hubieres mentioned Macarrulla’s proposal is “renounce to the State its obligations to the people.”
“The minister will tell this country that the OMSA must be destroyed because he says that one hundred and some pesos are spent on subsidies, when eighty pesos are being spent at this time. That is renouncing to the State one of its fundamental obligations with the Dominican people », he exclaimed.
“I don’t know the minister. But I was a student, I know what 25 pesos are worth for a student, worker or anyone who earns that amount,” Hubieres added.
About the new riders
John Hubiereshe reiterated as a scam, a robbery and a mafiathe opening of corridors in Santo Domingo, whose final objective, he affirms, is the dismantling of the Metropolitan Bus Office (Omsa) and deliver the service to the private sector.
He affirmed that those corridors to whom they solve the problem are the people to whom the government gives the buses, about 200 units that have already been bought, he said overvalued by six to eight million dollars.
