Great march in Caracas will celebrate canonization of Venezuelan saints this Monday

Meléndez: Canonization of Venezuelan saints is a historical milestone that unites the country

The canonization of Doctor José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles represents a historic event for Venezuela and an important step in the spiritual strengthening and unity of the country, as stated by the mayor of the Libertador municipality of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, who is part of the Venezuelan delegation that is in The Vatican.

Meléndez recalled that the Venezuelan people waited for more than 73 years for the canonization of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, which turns this event into a spiritual and cultural victory for the entire nation.

Likewise, he highlighted that the new Venezuelan saints are symbols of unity and an example to “continue building peace together” for the country. “Mother Carmen and Dr. José Gregorio in these moments of siege, of threat, that we are experiencing unites us (…) in these moments they are factors of unity, of doing good without looking at who,” he noted.

The mayor stressed that Venezuela is in the world’s eyes for positive reasons, thanks to the conscience of the people, who have resisted adversity with dignity. In that sense, he stated that part of his wishes to these new Venezuelan saints is health and wisdom to consolidate peace and guarantee the transformation that the country requires.

On the other hand, he revealed that given the great importance that both saints have for Venezuela and the world, the national government is working on a proposal to bring educational material to boys and girls.
