The dollar in Colombia abandoned this Monday the bearish territory in which it had been in recent days and rose strongly at the beginning of the week.

According to the Colombian Stock Exchange, The US currency closed at an average price of $3,875that is, it increases 67 pesos compared to the Representative Market Rate which was $3,808.
The weakening of the Colombian peso against the greenback comes a day after new diplomatic tension broke out between Colombia and the US after Trump announced the suspension of financial aid to the country and suggested that Petro is a “drug trafficking leader”.

For his part, the Colombian president called his ambassador to the US for consultations and defended the government’s actions against drug trafficking and that Trump would be misinformed by his advisors.
These reactions came minutes after Trump’s announcement that he would cut off aid and impose tariffs on Colombia, raising bilateral tension.

In other currencies, the euro depreciated 0.03% against the dollar, trading at $1.16 per euro, and the pound sterling lost 0.03% against the dollar and traded at $1.34 per pound.
