On the same day that a global failure in Amazon Web Services (AWS) affects digital services across the planet, Pix registered instability this Monday (20). 
Users of some financial institutions report interruption of transfers and payments in different regions of the country.
According to the website Down Detectorwhich monitors the functioning of platforms onlinethe first complaints about Pix began around 4 am (Brasília time) and intensified throughout the morning.
Report volume reached 160 reports per minute at 11:30 am, 176 at 11:40 am and peaked at approximately 272 complaints per minute at 2:17 pm.
The failures were observed mainly in large urban centers, such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Fortaleza, Curitiba and Recife.

During the period of instability, there was a significant increase in internet searches for terms related to Pix and fintechs.
However, traditional banks such as Bradesco, Itaú and Caixa Econômica Federal also registered an increase in complaints.
At Banco do Brasil, there was an increase in complaints in the morning, but the situation has now normalized in the afternoon.
Breakdown
Amazon’s division responsible for cloud computing services, Amazon Web Services reported that it is facing technical difficulties in the US-East-1 region, an area under the company’s responsibility that covers the Northeast of the United States.
This infrastructure is used by companies from different sectors to host, store and process data.
The breakdown caused instability in websites and large applications, including Mercado Livre, Mercado Pago, Reddit, Roblox, Snapchat, Wellhub (formerly Gympass), TotalPass, Perplexity and Prime Video.
In Latin America, the repercussions were felt in e-commerce, entertainment and financial technology services.
Central Bank
Through a brief note, the Central Bank (BC) informed that “the systems managed by the BC operate normally” and that it continues to monitor the performance of institutions participating in the instant payments system.
Until early afternoon, the BC had not identified internal failures related to the incident.
The monetary authority did not confirm the relationship between Pix’s instability and the AWS failure. However, according to specialized technology publications, the coincidence of times may indicate indirect impacts resulting from dependence on cloud computing services.
