Prime Minister Ernesto Álvarez Miranda formally requested the Congress of the Republic of Peru to be granted the floor to present his request for “question of trust” this Wednesday the 22nd, which would mark a key moment for the government of José Jerí.
Through a letter addressed to the head of Parliament, Fernando Rospigliosi (Fuerza Popular), the premier based his request on article 130 of the Political Constitution of Peru, which provides that the cabinet must attend Congress within 30 days of assuming office to present its general government policy and request a vote of confidence.
“I am pleased to address you to greet you cordially and, at the same time, I request that a session of the Plenary Session of the Congress of the Republic be scheduled to, in the company of the other ministers, present and debate the main measures that my management requires for the benefit of the country, in accordance with what is stated in article 130 of the Political Constitution of Peru,” states the document sent by Álvarez Miranda on Friday, October 17.
“In this framework, I propose the date of the session to be October 22, 2025 at 4:00 pm,” the letter adds.
Álvarez Miranda reaffirmed that this is a Government of transition and national reconciliation, aimed at implementing effective measures that allow achieving the main national objectives.
He pointed out that this is a government that seeks to do things well, that has nothing to hide and that is committed to laying the foundations for real change, at the service of the country and each citizen affected by the serious problems of crime and citizen insecurity.
