The elected mayor of Misantla is assaulted after delivering aid in Veracruz

The elected mayor reported that the criminals intercepted them at a gas station in Tihuatlán, where they were shot at gunpoint and stripped of a vehicle and belongings, which is why he demanded justice and greater security in Veracruz from Governor Rocío Nahle.

The assault occurred at a time when the armed forces maintain a wide deployment in the north of Veracruz to respond to the emergency caused by the intense rains.

There are 3,708 military personnel in the region, supported by three aircraft, three water treatment plants, two military hospitals, 28 units of heavy machinery, 22 dump trucks and five tractor-trailers, in addition to sanitation, vaccination and health support cells.

The work is concentrated mainly in the municipalities of Tuxpan, Álamo, Poza Rica, Ilamatlán and Huayacocotla, where the rainfall has caused considerable damage to homes, roads and basic services.
