The General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) announced that next Tuesday, October 21, the renewal period for the vehicle circulation tax will begin (tag) 2025-2026, aimed at 2,086,756 working vehicles, with an estimated collection of 3,433.8 million pesos.
The tax values they remain no changes compared to the previous period:
- 1,500 pesos for vehicles manufactured until 2020.
- 3,000 pesos for those manufactured from 2021 onwards.
Renewal can be done electronically through the portal dgii.gov.do and the DGII Mobile applicationfrom the beginning of the process and until Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Likewise, it will be available in 47 financial entitieswhich have 856 branches throughout the country, in addition to the collections of the DGII in Villa Vásquez (Montecristi) and Sánchez (Samaná), until Saturday January 31 of 2026.
To renew through any of the available channels – and to withdraw orders processed online or via the mobile application – it is mandatory to present a photocopy of the vehicle registration, updated, readable and in good condition.
Sanctions by non-renewal on time
The DGII recalled that the same amounts are maintained as penalties for those who do not renew within the established deadline:
- 2,000 pesos surcharge for vehicles that do not renew before January 31, 2026.
- 2,100 pesos for those who did not renew the tag 2024-2025 (2,000 pesos penalty + 100 pesos for administrative cessation).
- 3,100 pesos for those who did not renew the tag 2023-2024 or previous years (3,000 pesos fine + 100 pesos for administrative dismissal).
The institution urged taxpayers to renew on time for avoid sanctions and meet established deadlines.
