The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) in coordination with the Deputy Attorney General’s Office for the Electrical System (Pay) reported this Saturday that “they managed to strike another blow” against the illegal connections to various commercial establishments in the Boca Chica municipality, Santo Domingo province.
Edeeste and Pgase They indicated that anomalies were identified in the energy consumption of several commercial establishments, including a fuel station and several industrial warehouses in this town.
The distribution company added that, according to the report prepared by its technical area, these businesses record an estimated consumption of 61,178 kWh, which represents an approximate annual cost of 830,450.99 pesos to the detriment of Edeeste and the Dominican State. He stated that the losses in energy consumption in Boca Chica exceed 75%.

Edeeste and Pay together with the Superintendence of Electricity (SIE) indicated that this type of operations will continue to be carried out throughout the concession area of the distributoras part of the objective of identifying and correcting irregularities in the use of the electrical service by non-regulated users as well as customers in default with standardization in order to build a fairer, more efficient and sustainable electrical system.
The authorities reiterated their commitment to the national strategy of zero tolerance for electrical fraudthus avoiding an overload in the distribution network that reduces the service quality for other users and increases operating costs.
