Mayor of Sabanagrande (Atlántico) warns of recruitment of minors by criminal gangs

Darwin Rosales pointed out that support from the National Government is urgently needed to counterattack the economic proposals that minors are receiving.

There is an alert in the municipality of Sabanagrande because criminal groups such as ‘Los Pepes’ and ‘Los Costeños’ are recruiting minors, to whom they offer financial sums in exchange for providing services for said criminal groups.

According to the complaints known to La FM, minors are contacted to commit crimes such as extortion and selective murders in said territory.

The mayor of Sabanagrande, Atlántico, Darwin Rosales, spoke out against these complaints, confirming that The young people of said municipality are being recruited by criminal gangs, and pointed out that support from the National Government is urgently needed to counterattack the economic proposals that minors are receiving from criminal groups that operate in the territory.

Furthermore, the mayor said that one of the biggest problems in confronting extortion is that not enough social work is done by the Stateso that young people and minors can dedicate themselves to work, instead of being easy prey for ‘Los Costeños’ and ‘Los Pepes’.

All this is a result of the lack of intervention in social programs that has been experienced not only in our municipality, but throughout the department. and throughout the country.”

The municipal mayor pointed out that “programs are needed that can generate or provide an opportunity to our adolescents and young people, and therefore It is not easy suddenly, for us as municipal administrations, to counterattackthese types of offers that are made to these people that are not low financial offers.

Given the continuous cases of extortion in Barranquilla and Atlántico, which continue to be recorded even in the midst of the truce agreed upon by the noted leaders of the ‘Los Costeños’ and ‘Los Pepes’ gangs, councilor Alexis Castillo stated that a signature is not enough, but there must be will.

For him, the leaders of these organizations must do work with their structures so that they accept the cessation, since, from their perspective, it appears that it is not happening.
