Icetex disburses $52.9 billion in support subsidies to 42,615 students

The Colombian Institute of Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad (Icetex) began the disbursement of the support subsidies corresponding to the second half of 2025, aimed at 42,615 targeted beneficiaries due to their condition of socioeconomic vulnerability.

In total, The resources allocated reach $52,958 millioncoming from the General Budget of the Nation and transferred by the Ministry of National Education.

The disbursement, which is made progressively, seeks to support the living expenses of students who renewed their educational credit and keep their bank account registered with the entity active. “The National Government and Icetex reaffirm their commitment to Colombian students prioritized due to their vulnerable condition, who renewed their educational credit for the second semester of this year and are qualified to receive a support subsidy“said the entity.

Icetex explained that the subsidies are aimed at those who meet the requirements established in the targeting process, which include timely renewal of credit, updating of data and compliance with current financial obligations.

42,615 students prioritized due to vulnerability are the beneficiaries of these programs throughout the country.

We reiterate the call to the targeted beneficiaries to have their bank account enabled and registered, have renewed their credit for 2025-2 and are up to date with the payment of their credit (if they have already scheduled the payment of installments), necessary conditions for the support subsidy to arrive without delays“, indicated the institution.

The resources, close to $53,000 million, are part of the economic support strategies that the Government of Change implements to promote the permanence and completion of higher education among the most vulnerable young people in the country. According to Icetex, this type of subsidies complement the educational credit lines by partially covering the costs of maintenance, transportation or food during the academic semester.

The institute recalled that transfers are made directly to the bank accounts registered by the students, so keeping this information updated is essential to avoid delays in the process. In the case of users with outstanding obligations, it was emphasized that the regularization of the credit status is an essential requirement to access the disbursement.

Icetex and the Government of Change honor the commitments to the young people of Colombia who are studying with targeted credit with this support and who duly renewed this financing for the current semester“, the entity pointed out. It added that, “we continue to promote opportunities through timely management that responds to the agreed commitments and the purpose of promoting life projects,” the statement concluded.
