Jerí will announce in the next few hours measures to improve the capabilities of the PNP

The president Jose JerI participated this afternoon in a ceremony recognition to the National Police of Peru who participated in the march on October 15.

Jerí expressed his absolute support for the Peruvian National Police (PNP) and assured that its management is “a government that is open to dialogue and open doors, but also determined to take action when appropriate.”

The president broadcast from his TikTok account the recognition ceremony for the police officers who participated in security efforts during the march.

“There is full support from the Government of Peru with its National Police. So much so that yesterday, in the Council of Ministers, we talked about the measures that we were going to apply,” said Jerí.

The head of state emphasized that strengthening the police institution requires more than speeches.

“It is not enough to say ‘we are going to strengthen our Police’. That goes hand in hand with a larger budget, concrete actions and adequate tools for the challenges we face today as a country,” he stressed.

Likewise, he announced that in the next few hours the first measures aimed at improving the capabilities and conditions of the PNP will be announced, within the framework of an institutional strengthening plan.

“That is fundamental and is a commitment of the Government of Peru, which today I have the honor of leading,” he added.

“WE ARE A DIALOGUE GOVERNMENT”

Jerí stressed the importance of democratic institutionality and the balance between dialogue and authority.

“We are a government of dialogue, with open doors. Yes, we are. But the fact that we are dialogues does not mean that we do not know how to make decisions when we must,” he said.

During the ceremony, the president thanked police officers for their daily commitment to citizen security.

“Peru thanks you not only for October 15, but every day: from the traffic police, those who take care of our avenues and those who make interventions. They are all part of the tranquility of the country,” he expressed.

In his X account, Jerí reported that he has ordered that “all ministries begin an open door policy that allows us to be closer to Peru.”
