As usual, immunization in Santa Cruz continues on weekends. This Saturday six points are enabled, of which three are mobile and three fixed.
The director of the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters), Erwin Viruez, called on parents to take their children so that they receive the dose of protection that is much needed now that face-to-face classes are restarted. This Monday more than 800,000 students will return to the classroom, after two years of virtuality.
Viruez indicated that coverage in children under 18 years of age does not even reach 40%, which is why it is necessary to reinforce vaccination in this sector of the population.
Headquarters Epidemiology Manager, Carlos Hurtado, also called on parents to have their children vaccinated. “A few days after the start of face-to-face classes we have seen a slowdown in vaccination, when it should be contrary. We ask the population and parents to take their minors to the vaccination centers so that they can be immunized, that the population continue with permanent care and that next Monday the disease is not brought to the classrooms, “recommended Hurtado.
The Headquarters asks people who have the two doses to receive the third to boost vaccination with the fourth dose, because the second booster is already available in the vaccination points. The fourth dose should be applied four months after the third. The concern of the authorities is that so far coverage with a third dose barely reaches 14% in the department of Santa Cruz.
