The five tennis players who will represent Brazil in the playoffs of the Billie Jean King Cup (BJKC), the biggest women’s tennis tournament between nations, on November 15th and 16th, in Hobart (Australia). The team goes to the court without Beatriz Haddad Maia, who ended the season early due to physical exhaustion, and without Ingrid Martins. Both were part of the selection that was surpassed in Aprilalifiers for the BJKC Finals. Having not qualified at the time, Brazil returns to the court for the playoffs. Revelation of Brazilian tennis, Nauhany Silva (Naná), just 15 years old, joined the team in place of Luiza Fullana and Ingrid Martins in place of Bia Haddad. Recently, Nana won the singles title at the W15 in São João da Boa Vista (SP) and was the doubles champion at the ITF W35 in São Paulo, alongside Ana Candiotto. The teenager won her first match in a professional tournament during the WTA 250 SP Open, in the capital of São Paulo.

“We have a team that mixes the experience of players with an important history in the competition and the freshness of young players, who bring even more quality to our team. An example of this is Naná, who will join the team for the first time. This is a reflection of the hard work she has been doing with her team, and it’s really cool to see a young player, with her first experience in the professional team, being included. Competitions like the BJKC favor teams that can understand their spirit, based on fighting for each other in search of results”, said Peniza, when announcing the squad.

Brazil is in Group E of the playoffs and will face hosts Australia on November 15th and, the following day, compete with Portugal on the hard court at the Domain Tennis Center. Each day there will be two singles matches and one doubles match – always in the best of three sets. The champion team advances to 2026 Qualifiers.
