Three years have passed since the Regional Government of Junín promised to carry out the work to improve the infrastructure of the “José Carlos Mariátegui” school in Mazamari, and to this day the more than 1,200 students are still waiting for adequate classrooms, safe spaces and decent environments to study, according to the parents who traveled to Huancayo to demand compliance with the commitment made by the regional governor Zósimo Cárdenas, when he was still candidate.
“In 2023 the profile and technical file was prepared, and in 2024 all the documentation was completed. They told us that the work would begin in January 2025, but so far nothing”said César Taipe, president of Apafa. He added that the project includes an innovation classroom, a sports area and a small stage for school presentations.
“We have been waiting for three years. The governor promised during the campaign and until today he fails to deliver. On top of that, there are changes of engineers all the time and that further delays our project. Now, today they told us that on October 29 they will issue the resolution for the contract. If it is not fulfilled, we will take measures as a community”Taipe warned,
Miriam Rodríguez, former president of Apafa, expressed her concern about the series of needs and deficiencies that students experience. “In rainy weather, the ceiling of the computer room fills with humidity and there is a risk of electrocution. Another concern is the machines in technical areas such as carpentry, textile industry or electronics that are already more than ten years old and need total renovation. Now, we also run the risk of having the Wasi Mikuna taken away from us because an area is needed for the program and we do not have it, the parents are contributing but we only reach 30% to cover with the construction of that work”, lament.
