The National Registry of Civil Status reported that the digital platform is now available for citizens to check if they were selected as voting juries for the popular consultations that will be held next October 26 throughout the country.
This process, which is part of the organization prior to the democratic dayis carried out through a random draw and includes citizens of legal age, public and private sector employees, as well as university students. Being a juror is a legal obligation which implies a fundamental responsibility within the electoral process.
How do you know if you were selected?
The consultation can be done quickly and easily by entering the official website of the National Registry. Once on the page, citizens must go to the option “Check if you were appointed voting jury”enter your ID number and verify if you were selected.
If yes, the system will display the following information: assigned voting position, table number, date, time and location of training mandatory.
The electoral entity remembers that attendance at training is essential to fulfill this function correctly and avoid errors during election day.
What happens if you don’t attend?
Failure to comply with this obligation, without duly justified cause, may result in financial sanctions, as established in the Colombian Electoral Code. Furthermore, non-attendance without justification may generate a negative report in future public or institutional calls.
It is worth mentioning that, in recognition of this work, the juries that fulfill their function They will receive an official certificate that can be used to request a day of workers’ compensation, in both the public and private sectors.
The Registry also announced that, in the coming weeks, information and citizen pedagogy campaigns will be strengthened to guarantee that juries know their responsibilities. and are prepared for the transparent development of consultations.
