The weapon that Alexander carried Jimenez Galvan, arrested after injuring two people at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), is registered and has carrying permitas confirmed by police sources.
Jimenez Galván, 35 years old, is law student and merchant, resident in the Santo Domingo Oeste municipality.
According to the version offered to the Police, the past Wednesday October 15 the young man would have had a inconvenient at the university that led to some documents being withheld.
The next day he went to campus to get them back and, at the moment of leaving, the confrontation with the agents of the university security for allegedly being in an area where parking vehicles was not allowed, as explained by the UASD Public Relations Department.
“What he told the police was that he had had a situation the night before and the documents were withdrawn at the university and had to go look for them the next day and when he went out there he had a problem with security,” reported the coordinator, Roberto Tejada.
Jiménez Galván was also injured during the struggle and was taken into custody to a health center, where he receives medical care due to blunt force trauma and a head injury.
Safety operated
The authorities reported that one of the injured was operated on and is found stablewhile the second would be operated on in the next few hours.
The case is investigated by the Research Department of Crimes and Crimes Against Property (Homicides), under the coordination of the Public Ministryto determine the circumstances under which the incident occurred and the use of weapondespite its legality.
He teaching coordinator from the university, Roberto Tejadaregretted what happened and stated that the event “has shocked the entire university community.”
