The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Carmen Lúcia avoided making a direct request to the President of the Republic regarding the choice of the new member of the court, due to the early retirement of minister Luís Roberto Barroso. El said that everyone knows her position regarding the need for more women in the STF, but that she would not speak specifically about the case.
“I can’t speak out about something that belongs to my house. If I make a request to the President of the Republic, tomorrow he can ask the judge for something”, he said, on Thursday night (16), at Sesc Pinheiros, in the capital of São Paulo, at the Semper Um Papo event.
“Everyone knows my position on the issue of women [no STF]but not [falo] in specific. The judge doesn’t ask because he can’t receive it, in my understanding”, he added.
The minister’s statements were made after being asked about the possibility of the open position in the STF being occupied by a woman.
