Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized this Thursday (16) the reopening of the Federal Police investigation that investigated former president Jair Bolsonaro for alleged interference in the corporation.
Moraes answered the order placed yesterday by the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet.
In March 2022, during the former president’s government, the PF concluded that there was no political interference and asked for the case to be closed.
The issue began to be investigated after Sérgio Moro resigned from his position as Minister of Justice and insinuated interference in the PF through the change of the then general director Maurício Valeixo, appointed by him.
Gonet cited that Bolsonaro sent a message on April 22, 2020 to Moro and confirmed that Valeixo would be fired. The following day, the former president shared news about PF investigations against deputies who supported him.
Therefore, in the prosecutor’s opinion, it is necessary to determine whether there was “effectively” interference with the PF.
According to the PGR’s request, the PF must check the connection between the alleged interference with the investigations into Abin Paralela, the spread of disinformation and the use of the structure of the Institutional Security Office (GSI) in the coup plot.
