Government contributes 750 million pesos for parking at José Reyes

He Council of Aldermen of the National District approved a budget reformulation to include an item of 750 million pesos that will be used in the construction and equipment of the parking which was demolished four years ago on the street Jose Reyes of the Colonial City.

The approval included other 950 million that the Executive will deliver to the Town hall for the execution of other infrastructure works in the city who were not identified during the session.

On June 24, 2021 the Town hall decided to start the process of demolition of the old man parking street Jose Reyes which was used by the Association of Merchants of El Conde Street (Asoconde), entity that filed an appeal before the Superior Administrative Court rejecting the demolition.

He Council of Aldermen had approved the demolition given the threat that it meant for users, however, Asoconde He considered that the structure did not pose danger to those who used it.

The design of new project was in charge of the urban planner Marcos Barinas. The demolished building was five stories high, but it has not yet been reported how many levels the new building would have, which would be built in an area of 8,448.90 square meters.

The position remained vacant, but the Law 176-07in his article 43 establishes the conditions under which a councilor or mayor can lose his status, such as a judicial decision with authority of res judicata, due to repeated and unjustified failure to perform his duties in a period of three months.

  • On May 14 of this year, Edickson Herrera surrendered to the United States justice system and, although he pleaded not guilty to the drug trafficking accusation, he continued to appear on the Mayor’s payroll as a councilor.
