Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), issued this Thursday (16) a new warrant for the release of Alexsandra Aparecida da Silva, accused of participating in the coup acts of January 8, 2023.
Yesterday (15), Moraes ordered the accused to be released. However, this morning, Alexsandra’s defense informed that the warrant was sent to the Varginha prison (MG), and not to the Três Corações penitentiary (MG), where the accused is being held.
Upon analyzing the lawyers’ arguments, Moraes corrected the document and issued a new release warrant.
The minister ordered Alexsandra to be released after the defense stated that she is undergoing psychiatric treatment and is experiencing health problems, such as depression, anxiety and lumps in her breasts.
According to the decision, the accused must wear an electronic ankle bracelet and appear in court weekly.
Moraes also banned Alexsandra from leaving the country and accessing social media. She also had her passport cancelled.
The minister understood that the defendant can respond to the process freely because the investigation has already been closed.
“It appears that the procedural investigation has already been completed, with the case concluded for trial, a circumstance that reveals a change in the factual-procedural context that rules out the presence of the requirements of preventive detention”, he explained.
