The US Army attacked another ship this Thursday in the Caribbean Sea, near the coast of Venezuela, according to officials cited by US media.
The attack on a sixth ship, assigned to drug trafficking by the Administration of President Donald Trump, was carried out by members of the Southern Command in the Caribbean, according to officials cited by the CBS network, reports EFE.
The attack was not announced by Trump on his social networks as usual, but a group of officials confirmed it and assured that there are survivors, the first where they are reported since in the others 27 people have been murdered.
NBC News has previously reported that US lawmakers are increasingly concerned due to the lack of information provided by the White House about these operations.
Trump reported yesterday that he authorized the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to carry out covert operations and said that he was analyzing the possibility of carrying out ground operations
The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, declared that it is no surprise “The US government decided to send the CIA to Venezuela… against the peace of Venezuela. They have always done it, but no previous US government ever said publicly that it sent the CIA to kill, overthrow and destroy countries,” the president said this Thursday at an event celebrating Food Day.
Maduro recounted the coups d’état sponsored by the US and the CIA in countries of Latin America such as Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Chile or Nicaragua, to name a few. Regarding this, he said that the declassified documents from the Ginga intelligence agency demonstrate this.
The president asked to fight against “this crude and rude interventionist policy for regime change” that the US is applying against Venezuela and added that “no one can believe that the CIA has not been operating in Venezuela for 26 years, against Commander Chávez and against me.”
