Since Saturday, October 11, nothing has been heard from Luz Lindo Samaniego, a teacher from the Santo Domingo de Acobamba district (Junín), who disappeared when she was returning on foot after teaching two children at a rural school in the VRAEM.

Her son Héctor Fernández said that he lost contact with her after receiving a message stating that she had crossed the Mantaro River bridge. Since then, there has been no further information.

Despite the complaints, the Police and the Army have not started the search, claiming that the area is high risk for narcoterrorism. Faced with this, family members, neighbors and teachers travel on foot through the jungle area to try to find his whereabouts.

Local authorities and the UGEL Huancayo also joined the work, but complain about the lack of support from the Government. “My mother just wanted to teach, she doesn’t deserve to disappear like that,” her son said through tears.
