The Ministry of Transport released the requirements for autonomous traffic instructor. Those Professionals will be able to offer practical driving lessons without links to a driving school.
The category is included in the changes to obtaining the National Driving License (CNH), which are in progress. public consultation phase until November 2nd.
Course
To become an instructor, it is I need to take a specific course. This training will include classes focused on developing pedagogical skills, technical knowledge of traffic laws and responsible driving. There will be an assessment test, and those who pass will receive a certificate of completion.
The autonomous instructor must be able to ensure that the student observes urban mobility standards and safety conditions, reinforce the concepts covered in theoretical classes during practice, monitor their behavior and offer constructive feedback on performance.
Authorization
After completing the training course, the instructor must receive authorization from Detran to carry out the activity.
From there, the name will be registered with the Ministry of Transport, which will maintain a list of qualified instructors.
Vehicle
The vehicle (car or motorcycle) used in classes may belong to the student or the instructor and must comply with the safety conditions set out in the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), such as being within the limit of years of manufacture allowed for the fleet.
It is necessary to have identification (like a sticker, for example) that the vehicle is for teaching purposes.
Classes taught by the instructor must be reported to the region’s DMV.
Hiring
The model allows for different hiring options for instructors.
Those who currently work at a driving school will be able to continue the activities and, at the same time, work independently.
Professionals will be inspected by Detran. During practical classes, they must carry a driver’s license, Instructor’s Credential or badge provided by the competent body; Vehicle Learning License and Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate.
The Professional Identification Card for an independent instructor will be made available, free of charge, on the website of the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran), as long as the professional has met all the necessary requirements.
New rules for the driver’s license
THE federal government’s proposal to change the process for obtaining a National Driving License (CNH)which exempts the candidate from attending driving school classes and creates the role of an independent instructor, aims to modernize the process and make the document more accessible and cheaper for the population, especially in categories A (motorcycles) and B (passenger vehicles).
The government estimates that the cost of obtaining the document, which currently amounts to R$3,200, could fall by 80%.
Theoretical and practical exams will remain mandatory for issuing a driver’s license.
