Yesterday, the Senate transferred 800 million pesos to the Treasury of the Federation (Tesofe), which were part of the defunct Trust to Support the Construction and Equipment of the New Campus of this chamber, and whose resources amounted to 1,75 million pesos.
The president of the Political Coordination Board, Adán Augusto López Hernández, announced the above by pointing out that the remaining 274 million will be retained by the Senate to meet the commitments derived from the extinction of the fund, such as labor or commercial trials.
He explained that it was planned to transfer the final remainder to the Treasury next January, but “due to the type of termination” of the mechanism, “we could still have one more year to make the return.”
The Tabasco politician declared at a press conference that it was decided to extinguish the trust created on April 5, 1994, because it had already fulfilled its initial objective, and stated that he did not know the reason why it had not been terminated before, despite the fact that in 2019 there were reforms to the law of the branch to end those that existed in autonomous organizations and branches of the Executive.
Trust termination
Ignacio Mier, vice coordinator of the Morena parliamentary group, pointed out that at the moment there are no plans to build new Senate buildings on the surrounding properties it has.
López Hernández pointed out that the extinction began last month and to return the resources to the Treasury there was a dialogue with its owner and with the Undersecretary of Revenue of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit.
Present at the press conference, the president of the Senate, Laura Itzel Castillo, assured, on the other hand, that the collection of food for those affected by the intense rains that occurred in Querétaro, Hidalgo, Puebla, Veracruz and San Luis Potosí has been a success.
The president of the Jucopo explained that the first delivery of what was gathered will take place this Thursday at Military Field number 1 and simultaneously another will be made at the facilities that the Secretariat of National Defense has at the Pachuca airport, where aid is concentrated for the communities that are still isolated in Hidalgo and which can only be reached by helicopter.
It will be supported with several tens of thousands of groceries, picks, shovels, wheelbarrows and drinking water. 80 thousand gallons of the vital liquid will also be delivered, he added.
López Hernández also highlighted that all the groups are willing to help and donate part of their diet voluntarily.
