Congress of Tourism Commissions will meet in Melo in November
The Departmental Board of Cerro Largo is working on organizational aspects of the National Congress of Tourism Commissions throughout the country.
On the occasion, several Directors of the Municipalities will arrive in Melo from the 19 departments and the presence of the Minister of Tourism himself is practically confirmed.
It is worth remembering that a similar meeting was held in the previous period in Laguna Merín.
On this occasion, the meetings will take place in the Legislative Building itself, at the Posta del Chuy and in the town of Centurión.
“The 2nd National Tourism Congress is coming where the 19 Departmental Boards, the 19 Municipalities will be there, it has not been confirmed to us yet but the Minister will surely be there” confirmed Alejandro Lopez to THE PROFESSIONAL Radio.
“It will take place on November 21, 22 and 23” He announced during the live interview this Thursday, October 16. “On Friday at the Departmental Board the accreditations will be carried out. On Saturday morning we will go to the Posta del Chuy where we will be until 12:30, then the Councilors who will visit us will be released for lunch in different places in Melo. At 4 in the afternoon we will be in Centurión” express.
“We are going to take them to Centurión, we have already met with the Mayor. The idea is that they take a walk, a threshing as the locals say, in addition to talking about the history of the place” He said in relation to the Protected Area that has been delimited in that area of the department.

Taking the Councilors from all over the country who will be visiting Cerro Largo that weekend aims to promote a different place, with other types of attractions for a different tourism. “When we go out they always show us the places they have in each department. That’s why Uruguay has places in every corner that are very beautiful. There is tourism for that. That is why the idea was to do it in Melo and Centurión” he stated.
It is also planned that all Municipalities will make a presentation about their tourist attractions. “The people of Laguna, Río Branco, Tupambaé and Fraile Muerto among others are going to exhibit. Whoever has something is going to do an exhibition to take advantage of this opportunity” said Alejandro López.
It is estimated that between 100 and 120 people spend the night in Melo during that November weekend, which represents an important source of income in terms of gastronomic and hotel services. “At least each delegation of each Board is made up of 4 or 5 people, the same for the Municipalities, the Board of the National Congress of Councilors comes, the Tourism Commission comes, and the Río Negro Basin Commission comes” he detailed.
“A Congress had already been held in Laguna. On that occasion all the accommodations were full, there were even people who had to stay in Yaguarón and Río Branco” he remembered.
“The organization is carrying out its work, we have already been to several meetings. Fortunately, the Director of Tourism of the Municipality is giving us a great hand.
