A criminal group specializing in international drug trafficking, operating at São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, is the target of an operation by the Federal Police (PF).
Since the early hours of this Thursday morning (16), federal police officers have served two judicial warrants for temporary arrests, two for preventive arrests and four for search and seizure.
According to the PF, investigations began last June with the seizure of three bags containing around 160 kilos of cocaine from drug traffickers in the restricted area of the airport.
“The investigations showed that the organization aimed to send the cocaine to Johannesburg, South Africa. There were indications that the drug would be redistributed to other nations”, informed the PF.
Police investigations showed that the criminal group used two vehicles, one acting as a “scout”, responsible for monitoring the presence of police in the surrounding area, and the other transporting the drugs to the restricted area of the airport. “At the scene, a terminal employee, also involved in the scheme, diverted the drugs to the aircraft.”

Other seizures
On the same day, a foreigner was arrested at the airport, after the PF detected two suspicious volumes inside the structure of the passenger’s suitcase. Peruvian, he was banned from entering Milan, Italy, and returned to Brazil.
“Federal police officers took the passenger to the police station, where the suitcase was subjected to expert examination. Two kilos of cocaine were removed from the false bottoms of the equipment. He was arrested red-handed for the crime of international drug trafficking and will be presented to the Federal Court”, informed the PF.
On Tuesday (15), federal police officers arrested an airport employee who tried to enter a restricted area with 17 kilograms (kg) of cocaine hidden in the false bottom of a garbage cart. Then, when checking the detainee’s usual place of work, the agents found more than 16 kg of cocaine in tablets, a cell phone and more than R$10,000 in cash inside one of his lockers. The drugs were seized.
