Economy grew 3.18% in August: these were the sectors that drove the result

The peruvian economy It grew 3.18% in August and accumulated an advance of 3.32% in eight months, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

During the eighth month, the sector with the greatest progress was the agricultural sector, which registered a growth of 6.43%, due to the good performance of the agricultural subsector and the livestock subsector. The crops that influenced the positive result were fruits, tubers and cereals.

For its part, the production of telecommunications and other information services recorded its best result so far this year with an advance of 1.8% due to the increase in internet service from the main operators in the sector.

Regarding the manufacturing sector, it advanced slightly 0.06%. A positive performance of the non-primary manufacturing subsector was recorded with an advance of 1.81%, while the primary sector decreased by 5.55%.

Mining and hydrocarbons, on the other hand, increased by 1.78% due to the good performance of the production of zinc, gold and iron, mainly. Greater extraction of oil, crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids was also observed.

Fishing was the only sector that registered a negative result with a drop of 11.47% due to the lower capture of species of maritime origin intended for direct human consumption, such as species for freezing.

Meanwhile, other sectors that advanced were construction (3.6%), commerce (3.78%), transportation, storage, mail and courier (4.03%), public administration (4.73%), financial and insurance (2.24%), electricity, gas and water (0.95%), and accommodation and restaurants (0.89%).
