The Mininter representative also had strong words towards the protesters, because he described them as “vandals“who, according to him, had no intention of marching peacefully. “To these people who are already vandals. (…) This is something that goes beyond a citizen who wants to march peacefully, this is already an attack against the police,” he declared.
In this way, he justified his support for the police command by pointing out that he is there to defend them and called the national march as “violent”. “I am here to defend my police officers, I regret what is happening. According to the report we have, there are 33 injured police officers at the PNP Central Hospital. (…) As you will see we have a violent event where they are being attacked,” he criticized.
As if that were not enough, he blamed the students of the National University of San Marcos accusing them of committing the most violent acts during the ‘Generation Z’ protest in the center of Lima. “I call all of that generation Z, young people and all the students. Here it must be said, the most violent have been from a university that has been San Marcos. So this cannot happen,” he stated.
