“It’s definitely the best season of my career so far. I had great results this year and I hope to move forward looking for others for Brazil and our continent. I’m very happy”, declared Hugo after the new achievement.

This was the second gold won by the Rio native this Wednesday, after the mixed doubles title achieved alongside Bruna Takahashi from São Paulo. This was the third title this season for the duo, nicknamed Calderashi by fans. The Brazilians beat Puerto Ricans Steven Moreno and Brianna Burgos in the final by 3 sets to 0 (11/5, 11/7 and 11/4) in just over 20 minutes of play.

Bruna Takahashi lost the opportunity to win her first Pan-American singles title. The São Paulo native ended up falling to Puerto Rican Adriana Díaz by 4 sets to 0 (11/7, 11/8, 15/13 and 11/4) in the decision.

Another medal for Brazil came in the men’s doubles, with Leonardo Iizuka and Guilherme Teodoro, who beat Chileans Nicolas Burgos and Gustavo Gomes in the final.
