The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, denounced this Wednesday before the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) the “dangerous military deployment” of the United States in the Caribbean.
The reference was made during Rodríguez’s intervention on the first day of the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the NAM Coordination Bureau, which was inaugurated by the president of Uganda and current head of the Movement, Yoweri Museveni, in the country’s capital, Kampala, and which is being held until this Thursday.
“We reject the use of mere pretexts to threaten regional and international peace and stability, as is the case with the current extraordinary and dangerous US military deployment in the Caribbean, disguised as anti-drug operations, in flagrant violation of international law,” he stated in a message published in X.

“In the face of the danger of military aggression, we reiterate invariable and total support for Venezuela and the Popular Military Union, led by the legitimate president Nicolás Maduro. We call on the international community to mobilize to stop the attack and preserve Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace,” he stressed.
The island’s foreign minister also condemned the “attacks” of the US Government against the UN and the “multilateral agreements essential to confront global challenges”, as well as the “imposition of unilateral coercive measures against countries of the South, for the purposes of destabilization and domination.”
