The Public Works, Transportation and Telecommunications Commission of the Chamber of Deputies took a key step by agreeing to the merger of six initiatives that seek to extend the validity of the driver license professional and non-professional. The proposal arises as a direct response to the lack of operational capacity that today affects municipal transit departments, where shifts sell out weeks in advance and the deadlines for renewing documents become unattainable.

- Representative Joanna Pérez presented the main motion (Bulletin 17886), which modifies Traffic Law 18,290 and establishes the following extensions for the driver’s license:
- Professional Licenses (A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5): validity extended for two years for those who had to renew between 2022 and 2025.
- Non-Professional Licenses (B and C) and Special: one-year extension for those who were in the same periods.
- The extension will apply from the publication of the law.
