A court sentenced Verónica Andreina Rojas Soto, 44, a resident of Los Teques, Miranda state, to 10 years in prison and accused her of the crime of inciting hatred. The woman is accused of making a critical comment about the Government in a private conversation on WhatsApp.

Karelys Rojas, daughter of the detainee and who currently resides in Portugal, asks the authorities to review this case, since she considers the sentence unjust, as she declared to the media El Tequeño de Los Teques.

“My mother is a woman of the home, dedicated to her husband and my younger sister who is 15 years old. She does not represent any danger to society. She only expressed an opinion in private,” Karelys Rojas declared to El Tequeño.

Verónica Rojas did not suffer that fate; She was prosecuted and sentenced to 10 years in prison. His daughter assures that he has no criminal record or history of social conflicts, El Tequeño published.

Rojas’ relatives are worried, since she suffers from circulatory problems that could worsen in prison. His relatives are dismayed by the sentence, which they consider disproportionate.

Last July, Verónica Andreina, her husband and daughter were planning to travel to Portugal to meet Karelys, but the plans were cut short. The Rojas family requests that the sentence be reconsidered.
